In the Data tab > Save/Merge from Files window, select DNS Data Stream Files (dns) for the Output File Format.

After the .dns files are exported, they can be loaded into an FCS Express layout and you can proceed with analysis. The non-numeric spectral parameters and any other exported parameters will be available.

Note: .DNS files are specific to FCS Express and are likely not compatible with other third party applications.

If you prefer to export the spectral files to FCS file format, the non-numeric parameters should not be exported. Please follow these steps to exclude non-numeric parameters from the exported files.

• Display one of the files to be exported on a plot in FCS Express (if not already done).
• Single-click on the plot to select it.
• Click the Data tab > View header
• Make note of which parameter numbers are spectral parameters. They are the parameters that do not have values for Name, Stain or # Channels.
  • In my example below, parameters 8-13 are spectral parameters (e.g. Blue-A, Red-A, UV\Violet\Blue\YellowGreen\Red-A). These are the non-numeric that can’t be exported to FCS format.
  • Click Cancel

• If you are curious to see why those spectral parameters are non-numeric, click the Insert tab > Data Grid and click on blank space of the layout. Notice that the values for the spectral parameters contain parentheses.

• When you are ready to export the spectral file, click the Data tab > Save/Merge from Files.
• Select the options that you prefer, and set the Output File Format to FCS Files (fcs).
• For Parameters to Export, enter all parameters except the spectral parameters you noted earlier.
  • In my example, the Parameters to Export are 1-7,14-
  • This allows for export of all parameters in the file except the spectral parameters.
  • Adding a dash (-) at the end of the range allows additional parameters to be added to the exported file according to any applied compensation, unmixing or transformations.

• Click Save
