Why are my density plots from V3 not displayed correctly in later versions?

FCS Express has added many improvements in density and contour plotting since earlier versions, including the ability to view outliers, new color schemes, and color level options. Because of these improvements, some density plots that were saved in version 3 may not appear exactly the same in the newer versions of FCS Express. Notice in the images below that a density plot was first saved in version 3 (left) and opened in a newer version (center). Some events are now being treated as outliers and they appear in black (center top) while other times no outliers appear at all (center bottom). By ensuring outliers are enabled and by adjusting the outlier color to be red the density plot appears can look identical in all versions of FCS Express. Please follow the steps below to adjust density plots saved in version 3 so that they appear the same in newer versions of FCS Express.

Steps for correcting density display issues:

To correct one plot at a time

To correct multiple plots at once

  1. Right click on the plot you would like to adjust.
  2. Choose Format in the drop down list.
  3. Choose the Overlays category.
  4. Ensure the Show Outliers box is checked.
  5. Change the Outlier Dot Color to Red.
  6. Click OK.
  1. Select all of the density plots you would like to adjust.
  2. Select the Format tab>Plot Options>Overlays.
  3. Ensure the Show Outliers box is checked.
  4. Change the Outlier Dot Color to Red.
  5. Click OK.
