When new quadrants are added to a plot, they are assigned to the hierarchy as children of the Current Gate on the plot. In the example below, the quadrants were created on the right plot. Those quadrants appeared as children of Gate 1.

This User Option causes the checkbox "Create quadrants hierarchically" to be checked by default (green arrow in the Create New Quadrants window shown below).

You may notice that the 4 quadrant percentages on a plot do not add up to 100%, depending on their location in the hierarchy.

If opening a layout that was last saved in a version earlier than 7.20.0020, any existing quadrants will be converted to Gates. Those gates will appear in the hierarchy as children of the Current Gate of the plot where the quadrants are shown.

This User Option is checkmarked.

When new Gate views and Gate Navigators are opened, the Quadrants will be appear in them.

If opening a layout that was last saved in a version earlier than 7.20.0020, any existing quadrants will be converted to Gates. Those quadrants will appear in new and existing Gate Views and Gate Navigators.

This User Option is unchecked.

Quadrant gates are defined on two parameters. If quadrants are being shown on a 2D plot and an axis parameter gets changed, the quadrants will disappear. The quadrants will still be defined by the same parameters as before the axis change.

In the example below, the quadrants were initially defined on CD3 and CD4 parameters. The X axis was changed from CD3 to CD16. The quadrants remained defined on CD3 and CD4, so the quadrants disappeared from the plot.

The selected User Option is: Show prompt window - default to create new quadrants

When quadrants are added to a plot, the prompt window (shown in the figure below) will appear. "Create new quadrants named" will be selected by default.
