FCS Express allows you to format and gate kinetics plots, show related statistics, insert tokens.  All of these actions happen in real-time, so your analysis updates as changes are made to your layout.

Multiple files or subpopulations may overlaid in a single Kinetics plot, similar to 1D Histograms or 2D Color Dot Plots.

Kinetics Plots allow you to monitor the number of events/counts over time enabling the user to look for interruptions or peaks in the flow rate.

In the example below, the sample was removed from the cytometer to add the drug, and returned to the cytometer.  The valley in the kinetics plots is followed by a brief peak, indicating an increase in sample rate upon reloading the sample after drug addition.  The density plot is used to gate the population of interest to be displayed in the center and right kinetics plots.  The center plot is displaying the counts of events against time using a linear scale, while the right plot is displaying in logarithmic scale to minimize noise.

Often, it is useful to define a ratio of one dye to another dye when examining kinetics data. The parameter math feature of FCS Express allows you to define mathematical operations from simple ratios to complex formulas for use in your analysis. FCS Express will calculate and display the actual ratio values rather than a multiplied integer as some other software packages do.  In the example below, the left and center plots display a single dye against time, while the right plot displays a ratio of the two dyes as a new parameter against time.

With FCS Express, you can use gates to set a baseline (Threshold) value, then a post-treatment value, and plot the % Above Threshold value. Notice in the plots below how the raw data (first column) from FL-1 (Top Row) and a Ratio (Bottom Row) were converted to a density plot (second column) to create baseline and post-addition gates, and replotted as % Above Threshold (third column).
