Standard quadrants are the traditional crosshair dividing the plot into four rectangular sections. To change the size of the quadrants, click on and move the central vertex.

Floating quadrants provide flexibility for subsets that cannot be demarcated with Standard quads. With floating quadrants, all vertices (the center and one on each sidewall of the plot) are moved independently. Therefore, you are no longer restricted to rectangular shapes as illustrated in the left plot below. In the right plot, below is an example of Floating quads.

Percentile quadrants allow you to quantitatively determine the quad position based on your data.  You decide where the central vertex should fall along either or both axes, and FCS Express will take care of the rest. These quads will update accordingly as the data change.

In FCS Express 7.20.0020 and later, gates are automatically created for quadrants. These gates are accessible in the Gate Navigator and Gate View. There is no need to convert quadrants to gates. The centerpoints of two sets of quadrants may linked so the sets move together as in the example below. Please see our instructions and further documentation on how to create linked quadrants.
