Because quadrants are gates in FCS Express 7.20 and later, the same set of quadrants can be shown on multiple plots. The quadrants will have the same position no matter where they are displayed. The displayed percentages reflect the events on the plot. This can be useful when you wish to use the same set of quadrants across multiple samples.

In particular, you may wish to set the quadrant position according to the unstained control and use the same set of quadrants on another plot displaying your sample data.

If two or more independent sets of quadrants are in different levels of the gating hierarchy, they can be linked. When the position of one quadrant set is adjusted, the linked set of quadrants will follow. This is useful if you are analyzing two different populations and you want the two sets of quadrants to have the same position for both populations.

A quadrant gate (e.g. Lower-Left) can be applied to a plot to only display the cells within the quadrant. When the set of quadrants is repositioned, the cells displayed on the other plot update in real time. This is useful when you want to add a child gate to a single quadrant.
