Installation Instructions for Previous Versions of FCS Express (V3 through V6)

Instructions for installing and running previous versions of FCS Express are provided below. Please note these versions are no longer for sale, and no further updates are scheduled. If you require additional assistance for your installation of a previous version please contact support@denovosoftware.com.

1.) Download

Below are direct links for the installers for the various versions of FCS Express RUO and IVD, so please read and select from the following carefully.

RUO ONLY

V6: Download the appropriate installer of FCS Express 6 Flow, Image, or Plus for your PC and/or Mac.

V5: Download the appropriate installer of FCS Express 5 Flow, Image, or Plus for your PC.

V4: Download the appropriate installer of FCS Express 4 Flow, Image, or Plus for your PC.

V3: Contact the De Novo Software team for the installer of FCS Express 3 Flow for your PC.

IVD ONLY

V6: Download the appropriate installer of FCS Express 6 Flow for your PC.

V5: Download the appropriate installer of FCS Express 5 Flow for your PC.

V4: Download the appropriate installer of FCS Express 4 Flow, Image, or Plus for your PC.

V3: Contact the De Novo Software team for the installer of FCS Express 3 Flow for your PC.

2.) Install

Below are steps to install standalone (internet dongle, dongle, or site license) and network versions, so please read carefully.

Installing FCS Express for a Standalone license
- Run the install program.
  - Launch setup.exe from CD, or
  - double-click downloaded file from Step 1.
- Follow prompts to complete installation.
- Note for Version 6: When prompted to install as Standalone or Network, choose Standalone License.

Installing FCS Express for a Network license
- Run the install program
  - Launch setup.exe from CD, or
  - double-click downloaded file from Step 1.
- Follow prompts to complete installation; please be sure to select disk drive accessible to all users
- Note for Version 6: When prompted to install as Standalone or Network, choose Network License.
- Create shortcuts to FCS Express on all users' local machines.
- Allow read/write permissions to folder where you installed FCS Express.

3.) Configure

In order to run FCS Express, you will need a configuration file. The configuration file tells FCS Express which version of the software you are running, which features to activate, and other information. There are two ways to obtain a configuration file, either through our Configuration File Wizard or through email. In order to use the configuration file Setup Wizard, you must be connected to the Internet.

Configuration File Wizard

When FCS Express starts up, it will detect whether or not a configuration file is present. If one does not exist, the Configuration File Setup Wizard will appear automatically. Follow subsequent steps below.
- Please note for V3, you will be prompted to select The complete analysis program or The free FCS Express Reader. Choose the former to continue installation of the fully functional version of FCS Express.
- Select how you will retrieve the configuration file:
  - Option 1: Automatically through the wizard, and I already have a De Novo Software account
    - Enter credentials in following screen and select appropriate Application Name to proceed
  - Option 2: Automatically through the wizard, and I do not yet have a De Novo Software account
    - Enter information to create account in the following screen and select appropriate Application Name to proceed
  - Option 3: Through a configuration file that I have already received
    - Browse to and select configuration file where it is saved on your computer or server in the following screen
  - Proceed through rest of prompts to complete configuration.

Configuration via Email

When you purchase FCS Express, you will receive a confirmation email with a summary of your purchase along with the configuration file as an attachment. You may save this configuration file anywhere on your computer or server for future retrieval and use.

If you need to obtain the configuration and no longer have the original confirmation email, please follow the steps below to access your De Novo Software account and receive another email with your configuration file.

Go to www.denovosoftware.com
Click on My Account.
Log in with your email address and password.
From there, there will be an option for you to obtain the configuration file. Select this option, and select your configuration file, and click on the button to send the file.
The configuration file will then be sent to you by email.
Once you receive the email, save the configuration file from the email to the configuration directory of FCS Express.

4.) Launch

Congratulations! You now are ready to open FCS Express and analyze your data.

You can pin the application's executable to your start or task bars and create a shortcut saved on your desktop for quickly launching the software when you need it.

If you are using an internet dongle or site license, you will need to enter your Login name and Password upon launching FCS Express. Please review information about credentials using links below:
- End-user: use credentials provided by your administrator
  - Change password as necessary
- Internet Dongle - Site License Administrator

If you are using the dongle, you will need to plug the dongle into your computer to run FCS Express. See additional details below.

If you are using the countercode, please complete the countercode wizard . Please be sure you request the countercode for the computer you wish to use FCS Express. See additional details below.

Important notes about using dongles and countercodes below.

Dongles

If you select the dongle option when purchasing FCS Express, the dongle will have been mailed to you along with the CD copy of the software program.

Make sure to install and run FCS Express at least one time before inserting the USB dongle. This will install the correct drivers on to your system.

The first time you use the dongle, the dongle must be inserted into a computer that is connected to the Internet. FCS Express will validate that the purchase was approved and then activate the dongle. After activation, the dongle can be used from any computer, irrespective of whether or not that computer is connected to the Internet.

Countercodes

Countercode is a machine specific copy protection option that you have when using FCS Express.

Remember the countercode will lock that copy of FCS Express to a particular computer, so be sure only to request a countercode for the computer on which you want to use FCS Express.

To configure FCS Express with your Countercode:

Automatically - when connected to internet

Start FCS Express. The Countercode Configuration Wizard will appear.
Select Configure countercode automatically.
Click Next.
Enter your email address and password created on the De Novo Software website when you registered for an account.
1. This must be the email address to which the purchase is registered.
2. Click Forgot My Password after entering your email address if you forgot your password.
Click Next to continue.
Click Finish to continue and start FCS Express.

Manually - when not connected to internet

Start FCS Express. The Countercode Configuration Wizard will appear.
Select Configure countercode manually.
Click Next.
Click Copy Code to Clipboard button.
Click on the link on the screen or here to go to the countercode page on the De Novo Software website.
Click Cancel to close the wizard. You will reopen the wizard once you receive the countercode.
Return your web browser, you should be on the page linked in step 5 above - Countercode Verifiation.
Enter your name and email address.
Paste the countercode copied from step 4.
Click Get Countercode button.
Check email for delivery of the countercode. Once it arrives, copy it from your email.
Return to or reopen the Countercode Configuration Wizard.
Click Paste Countercode button.
Click Next to complete the process.
