The De Novo Software Team

David Novo PhD, Founder
David received his PhD in Biophysics from UCLA. His research concentrated on developing novel optical and mathematical techniques for measurements and analysis of localized fluorescent Calcium transients from a microdomain within a muscle cell. David also built several confocal microscopes, as well as writing the data acquisition and data analysis systems. Prior to commencing his PhD, David worked with Dr. Howard Shapiro, one of the leaders in the field of flow cytometry, performing research on membrane potential determination in bacteria using flow cytometry. During the course of this research they built several flow cytometers custom made for bacterial measurements. Two papers were published on the subject. David still maintains close ties to the flow cytometry community through his appointment to the Data Standards Committee of the International Society of Analytical Cytometry. This committee maintains the flow cytometry data file standard and deals with issues standardizing all sorts of flow cytometry related data storage and analysis issues. David frequently consults on data analysis issues related to flow cytometry and collaborates on many projects involving novel data analysis requirements.

Andrea has worked closely with flow cytometry data analysis and experiments in a variety of settings since 2008 while working on immune tolerance in Type 1 Diabetes. Over the years he has gained additional skills in data analysis and R programming through his post-graduate studies and laboratory work.

Robin KamuchekaTechnical Applications Specialist
Robin graduated summa cum laude from the Honors College with a BS in Biology from the University of Texas-San Antonio. She brings many years of flow and image cytometry experience to De Novo Software. She has designed multiple experimental protocols for blood samples generated from human and animal research. Before cytometry work, she studied Chromosome 18 abnormalities and genetic expression in humans and Arabidopsis plants. Now at De Novo Software, Robin uses her unique background to partner with FCS Express customers to meet their data analysis objectives.

Holly Bonar MS, SCYM(ASCP)cmTechnical Applications Specialist
Holly graduated from Thomas More College with a BA in Biology in 2000, followed by an MS in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2003.  Her master's degree thesis involved using flow cytometry to study the immune response to Histoplasma capsulatum infections in mice.  In 2007, she transitioned to the clinical flow cytometry laboratories of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, where she spent 14 years performing and developing clinical flow cytometry testing to support the clinical services of the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute.  Her flow cytometry clinical expertise includes a wide variety of adult and pediatric testing including leukemia/lymphoma immunophenotyping, minimal residual disease testing, and high-resolution PNH screening, in addition to platelet function testing and hemoglobin F quantification for sickle cell anemia treatment.  She received her ASCP certification as a specialist in Cytometry in 2014 and has also served as a College of American Pathologists (CAP) laboratory inspector since 2015.
